What are the main uses of ordinary rough drill pipes

Ordinary rough drilling rod is a drilling tool that has undergone rough drilling process (i.e. forging to increase the diameter of the drill rod joint and enhance the connection strength). It is mainly used in drilling and construction scenarios that have certain requirements for drill rod strength and durability, but operate in relatively conventional and medium load environments. Its specific application areas are as follows:
1、 Geological exploration and mineral resource exploration
Solid mineral exploration: In the survey and detailed investigation of coal, iron ore, non-ferrous metal mines and other minerals, it is used for core drilling from the surface to a certain depth underground (usually hundreds of meters to kilometers) to obtain underground rock layers and mineral samples. Ordinary rough drilling rods can meet the drilling needs of medium hardness rock formations (such as sandstone, shale, coal seams), and rough treatment of joints can reduce the wear or fracture of connection parts caused by frequent tripping.
Hydrogeological exploration: used for underground hydrological exploration (such as searching for groundwater sources, determining the distribution of aquifers), engineering geological exploration (such as identifying the properties of foundation soil layers), etc., drilling in loose soil layers, clay layers, or medium hardness bedrock, balancing efficiency and reliability.
2、 Engineering construction and infrastructure construction
Pile foundation construction: Used for drilling small and medium-sized pile foundations (usually less than 1 meter in diameter) in construction, bridge, and municipal engineering pile foundation drilling, such as rotary drilling and impact drilling, to handle formations with low clay, sand, and gravel content. The stability of the drill rod is ensured through the use of pier coarse joints when transmitting torque and axial force.
Non excavation construction assistance: In small non excavation projects (such as drilling guide holes for underground pipeline laying), as a power transmission drilling tool, it is suitable for shallow surface and low formation pressure scenarios, avoiding construction interruptions caused by weak drill pipe connections.
3、 Water well and geothermal drilling (medium shallow depth)
Civilian and agricultural wells: In shallow groundwater extraction, they are used to drill small diameter wells (usually tens of meters deep) to cope with common formations such as sand and gravel layers. The durability of the thick drill rod can reduce the cost of frequent replacement of drilling tools.
Shallow geothermal exploration and development: In geothermal heat pump drilling wells with shallow depths (usually less than 500 meters), it is used to drill heat exchange holes, treat soil layers or soft bedrock, and meet the needs of medium load cyclic drilling.
4、 Small scale mining and tunnel construction
Small scale mine tunnel drilling: Used as a lightweight drilling tool in advanced exploration of underground tunnels and geological structure exploration before coal seam mining in small and medium-sized mines, it is suitable for operations in narrow underground spaces. Its joint strength can cope with the impact load of complex strata in the tunnel.
Tunnel advanced geological prediction: used in tunnel construction to conduct short distance (tens of meters) drilling on the strata in front of the tunnel face, exploring for hidden dangers such as water influx and faults. The flexibility and economy of ordinary pier thick drill rods are more suitable for such temporary exploration needs.
